Abanga Farms & Food Systems (AFFS), a Ghanaian owned premium agribusiness company and subsidiary of the Abanga Group of Companies, has announced the cultivation of 10,000 acres of maize and soya beans inter-cropped with cashew at the Nkoranza North District of the Bono East Region of Ghana.
Thomas Abanga, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Abanga Group who announced this on Tuesday February 7, said the groundbreaking project is in partnership with Izako Farms Limited, also a Ghanaian agribusiness company.
“Preparation of the land is currently underway and hopefully by April everything would be set for planting of maize and soya beans as well as transplanting of cashew seedlings”, Mr. Abanga explained.
He added: “This initiative also adds to our other existing and growing initiatives in partnerships with the governments and good people of Liberia and Namibia.
The more we grow under favourable partnerships and good working environment, the more opportunity we get as a reputable Pan-African agribusiness company to create numerous jobs for Ghanaian and African youth as well as women to work and earn decent income and also acquire skills in farm machinery operations, post harvest management, and best agronomist practices among others”, he added.
For his part, Managing Director of Izako Farms Ltd, Mr. Isaac Buah, expressed great delight in the partnership with AFFS.
According to him, the partnership is an opportunity for the two companies to create wealth while contributing towards the socio-economic development of the country through the creation of jobs, eradication of poverty and capacity building of local farmers.
” It’s my prayer and hope that by this collaboration, many lives of the local people here in Nkoranza who would be engaged as labour on the farm would see great transformation by the time this investment fully matures”, Mr. Buah opined.
